Women's Justice Network

1000 Voices for Justice

Creative & design Digital & marketing Strategic support Women 2025

Women’s Justice Network (WJN) has spent more than two decades helping women and girls affected by, or at risk of entering, the criminal legal system rebuild their lives through mentoring, advocacy and trauma-informed support. Its mentoring model delivers remarkable outcomes, with 93% of women who participate for more than 12 months not reoffending—a testament to the power of lived experience, connection and long-term support.

Yet despite its proven impact, WJN faced a challenge shared by many purpose-led organisations: the strength of its work wasn’t matched by the visibility of its brand. Heavy reliance on government funding and one-off donations limited long-term sustainability, while public understanding of women affected by the justice system remained clouded by stigma and misconception. WJN wanted to grow beyond transactional fundraising by increasing public awareness, diversifying its donor base and building a community of advocates who believed in the organisation’s mission. At the same time, it sought to raise $100,000 through a Giving Day campaign while expanding its presence across New South Wales and the ACT.

Rather than beginning with a campaign, brandkind started by redefining the brand.

What we delivered

Working closely with WJN, Katie developed a comprehensive brand positioning and marketing strategy that articulated not only what the organisation does, but why it matters. Together, we clarified Women’s Justice Network’s mission, positioning, value proposition and brand essence, establishing a strategic foundation that shifted the conversation from supporting an organisation to investing in lasting systems change. The strategy centred on a simple but powerful belief: connection gives meaning and purpose to catalyse change.
We then mapped audience motivations across donors, government and participants, identifying how each group thinks, feels and acts when engaging with WJN. This insight informed a communications framework that balanced evidence-based outcomes with authentic lived experience, helping transform statistics into stories that inspire empathy, trust and action.

Building on the strategy, we designed a complete campaign blueprint centred around 1000 Voices for Women’s Justice—a long-term platform that combined advocacy, storytelling and fundraising into a single movement. Rather than treating fundraising as an isolated event, the campaign was designed to build awareness first, mobilise community participation, engage partners and media, and ultimately convert that momentum into sustainable donor support.

To support implementation, we also designed the campaign identity and a suite of campaign materials, along with a comprehensive presentation deck that enabled the WJN team to confidently communicate the strategy to internal stakeholders, board members and potential partners. Together, these assets translated the strategic vision into practical tools that could be activated immediately across fundraising, communications and advocacy efforts.

The blueprint included campaign territories, messaging architecture, partnership strategies, media engagement, community activation, donor journeys, workplace giving opportunities and measurable success metrics.

The outcome

The result was far more than a fundraising campaign.

WJN gained a strategic roadmap that connects brand, communications, advocacy and fundraising under one cohesive vision. With clearer positioning and a compelling narrative grounded in lived experience, the organisation is now equipped to communicate its impact more confidently, strengthen relationships with donors and partners, and engage broader audiences in conversations about justice reform.

Supporting the strategy is a professionally designed campaign toolkit—including campaign collateral and presentation materials—that enables the team to consistently present the campaign, engage supporters and activate partnerships with confidence. Rather than starting from scratch with every initiative, WJN now has a scalable brand and campaign platform that can continue evolving alongside the organisation.
